Changes to formal relationship between NZUA and PADI announced

NZUA and PADI, who have formally partnered in various ways since 1986 to promote and provide services to the New Zealand diving, watersports and marine environmental communities, announce a cooperative ending of their formal relationship.

NZUA and PADI, who have formally partnered in various ways since 1986 to promote and provide services to the New Zealand diving, watersports and marine environmental communities, announce a cooperative ending of their formal relationship.

The organisations will continue individual support for underwater activities in New Zealand. NZUA will maintain its role as the recognised leading not-for-profit organisation promoting and advocating safe and enjoyable underwater activities in a protected marine environment. Its work with national underwater sporting and recreational stakeholders and clubs continues, as does its efforts supporting the marine environment.

PADI’s professional focus promoting scuba and freediving continues, with important environmental efforts maintained through Project AWARE.

NZUA acknowledges PADI’s long-time financial support; the relationship originally formalised in 1999.

Both organisations will remain active and visible in the New Zealand marketplace, with the best interests of watersports and the marine environment remaining a shared goal.
