Kapok lifejackets have been found to sometimes sink, and the cotton straps can rip.

Check your lifejackets and make sure you and your family are safe by replacing any kapok lifejackets, or any safety equipment that is damaged or more than ten years old.

See the Maritime NZ website here for lifejacket care and safety information.
